Pres. Jonathan sacks Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba



The Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, has been sacked by president Jonathan. Presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati just made the announcement.

Abba took over from M.D Abubakar as IG of Police in August 2014. Pres. Jonathan has appointed DIG Solomon Arase as Acting IGP with immediate police. Find the press statement after the cut...

72 year old Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, who was one of late Saddam Hussein's most trusted henchmen in Ba'ath Party and later became an ISIS commander has died in fighting in Tikrit. al-Douri, who was one of the world's most wanted man and had a $10million bounty on his head was killed during fighting with government troops in Salahuddin province, north of Baghdad, on Friday according to Iraqi officials. The man, popularly known as King of Clubs, was fighting alongside ISIS militants.

N2trn Controversy: PDP NWC Not Involved In Spending Jonathan Campaign Fund – Metuh



The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has distanced its National Working Committee (NWC) from the controversy surrounding the handling of the PDP Presidential campaign funds, saying the NWC never received any amount from any quarters for the campaigns.


This was the position of the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, when he fielded questions at a radio programme in Abuja on Monday.

Metuh, who noted that President Goodluck Jonathan has denied ever spending the bandied N2 trillion on his campaigns, added that the NWC was not involved in the management of any fund released for the campaign.

Actor John Okafor a.k.a Mr Ibu Looses Mum



It’s another sad day for the movie industry in Nigeria.

The entertainment scene in the country has witnessed a lot of deaths in the past year and the sad trend continues.

Famous Nollywood comic actor, John Okafor, aka Mr. Ibu has lost his mother after a protracted illness.

The actor announced her death on his Facebook page, shortly after her death on Saturday morning.

Ondo strange killer disease “confounding” — Governor Mimiko


Below is the full text of Governor Olusegun Mimiko’s address to the people of Ondo state over the outbreak of a strange illness that has killed no fewer than 17 people in two communities in the state.

“My dear good people of Ondo State

“We have witnessed in the last few days a major health challenge. A yet to be named ailment whose causative agents, diagnosis and cure are also yet to be determined struck in locations in Irele Local Government Area of our State, killing 17 people and stoking panic and fear.

“I am, like you, saddened by this losses and the attendant fear of what looks like an epidemic. I can only bring words of consolation to the families of the deceased and words of comfort and assurances to the good people of our dear State. Our prayer at this hour is that God grants rest to the dead and fortitude to the living.

Infectious Disease Outbreak Kills Over 25 In Ondo

An outbreak of a strange ailment has claimed more than twenty five lives in Ode Irele in Irele local government area of Ondo State, a community leader has told SaharaReporters.

In a telephone interview with our correspondent, the community leader, Ayodele Omole, stated that the “strange ailment” broke out on Wednesday morning and had already created panic among residents, adding that many people were fleeing from the community. In a radio broadcast, the Ondo State Commissioner for Health, Dayo Adeyanju, confirmed the outbreak, but assured residents that it was not Ebola.
