Buhari Blames Slow Growth Of Oil&Gas Sector On Politicians

President-elect Muhammadu Buhari has blamed politicians for the slow rate of development in the nation’s oil and gas sector.

He said this when he received a delegation from Total Oil Exploration and Production Group who were on a congratulatory visit.

Buhari said the slow progress recorded in the development of the country’s gas production and distribution infrastructure was due to sabotage by politicians and inefficiency by the officials.

The Chief Executive Officer of Total Group, Mr. Patrick Pouyanne, however, assured that his company was doing its best to assuage the pains of Nigerians with the ongoing fuel scarcity. It has therefore directed its downstream subsidiary to ensure all-round supply of petroleum product to its 500 distribution outlets throughout the country.

“We have discussed and I think some solutions are being implemented. Our downstream subsidiary, Total Nigeria Plc, is doing its best in order to supply its 500 outstations throughout the country with fuel to help check the scarcity.

“Nigeria is an important nation in our business outlook. It presently accounts for over 10 per cent of Total Group’s investment worldwide. We are not just involved in the Upstream and natural gas production, but in the downstream operations.

“We are deeply concerned on the current challenges being witnessed in Nigeria and global oil market,” he said.

Gen Buhari orders security personnel attached to him to always obey traffic order

President elect, Gen. Buhari has reportedly ordered aides and security personnel attached to him to always obey traffic regulations during all his movements in any part of the country. In a statement released and signed by his media team in Abuja yesterday May 6th, Buhari said leadership without example will cause ordinary citizens to copy the lawlessness of their leaders. Above is a picture of his convoy waiting at a traffic light.

"Without leadership by example, the ordinary citizens would become copycats of the lawlessness of their leaders”He went further by stating that “arrogance of power, lawlessness and disregard for the rights and convenience of fellow citizens would have no place in his government”.

He said in a democracy, leaders should not inconvenience their citizens or cause them to experience unbearable ordeals for their own comfort.

The President-elect advised his military and police security personnel to be in tune with his philosophy of “bringing the rule of law in the conduct of leaders during their movements on public roads.”

Kim Kardashian Banned Selfies at her Selfie Book Signing (Photos)

Her new book features over 400 pages of selfies she's taken for nearly a decade. But Kim Kardashian didn't want her adoring fans taking their own self-taken snapshots while plugging the new hardcover.

The 34-year-old reportedly banned selfies at her book signing at the Barnes & Noble on Fifth Avenue in New York City on Tuesday. According to a Wednesday report from Yahoo, the restriction was likely enforced to keep the long line moving as some followers even camped out for the chance to meet her on Monday night, while the wife of Kanye West partied the night away at the Met Gala.

Upon arrival at the event held at the bookstore, Kim posed for photos as she held up her new hardcover portrait photography book, which released on Tuesday. And as usual, Kim flaunted her famous curves in a stunning white ensemble. Pics continue after the cut.

PDP’s Fall Was Caused By Patience Jonathan, Fani-Kayode And Fayose — Tsav

As President Goodluck Jonathan intervened in the open war between his aides and the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a retired Police Commissioner, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav has said that the situation the PDP has found itself was caused by Jonathan’s wife and some aides who took over the party and were speaking for it everywhere.

“When the PDP was formed with pomp and pageantry some years back, its members boasted that it was the largest party in Africa. Some at a point boasted that it would rule for 60 years and beyond. Things went right, and everything flourished in the party. Everybody went for the umbrella but today, the situation has changed and the umbrella is leaking profusely not only from torrential rain but from the rays of the tropical sun.

“Most of the founding fathers have left the party in anger ranging from lack of internal democracy to encouraging illegality. The situation was worsened by the departure of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who is an institution himself.

There Is Provision For Fuel Subsidy In 2015 Budget – Okonjo-Iweala

The Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, yesterday, said the government has not removed fuel subsidy from the 2015 budget, as she confirmed that N145.2 billion provision was made for it.

“I want to clarify that there has been some misinformation that has gone around in the media about the fact that the National Assembly passed the 2015 budget without provision for fuel subsidy. It is not true,” she told newsmen in Abuja.

“It is important that you note that the National Assembly approved provisions of N100 billion for PMS (Petroleum Motor Spirit, otherwise called petrol) and N45.2 billion for kerosene subsidy. So, it is not true that they passed the budget without provision for subsidy,” she added.

The minister emphasized that managing the economy since the crash in oil prices had been very tough for her team which had to adopt various strategies to keep the economy running.
