President Jonathan implicated in million dollars contract scam [Details]

President Jonathan has been implicated in the awarding of multi-million dollars Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) contracts to two factitious firms, according to The Nation. With less than a month to hand over, President Jonathan has come under scrutiny for making last minutes appointments

The contracts in question were said to have been awarded by the president to Messrs CTOW Terminal & Marine Services and Ibejige Services Limited, two unregistered ghost companies in defiance of due process.

The controversial contracts meant for the provision of third party towage services (TPTS) at Warri and Onne ports pilotage districts have come under intense scrutiny following revelations by sources close to the Federal Ministry of Transport (FMOT) in Abuja that the award of the contracts by NPA to the two firms did not follow due process .

Added to the fact that the companies are not registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), they also do not have a known address.

Finding by The Nation, indicates that the president’s approval for the contracts was contained in a letter last year to the NPA through the Federal Ministry of Transport on August 14, 2014.

Barcelona 3-0 Bayern: Messi Brace Sets Barca on the Road to Berlin

Lionel Messi’s moment of brilliance propelled Barcelona to a 3-0 win over Bayern Munich in a Uefa Champions League last-4 tie on Wednesday.

There’s no stopping the Argentine superstar; Pep Guardiola shared the same thought in his pre-game conference on Tuesday and the closing quarter of what was a high-octane spectacle proved the former Barca manager right, as his former protégé came up with the joker on his return to the ground where he won 14 titles as manager.

Bayern have an uphill task on their hands, heading into next week’s return leg in Munich trailing by 3 goals and without hopes of having their top marksmen back. No point making a case for absentees on the night considering the fact that the Bavarians have coped all season with injury problems.

However, the absence of the likes of David Alaba (knee), Arjen Robben (calf), Franck Ribéry (ankle), as well as Sebastian Rode (muscular problems) and Holger Badstuber (thigh) made little room for the possession-drunk and offensive German game, as were the case three years back when the Allianz Arena outfit were rarely troubled On their way to a 7-0 aggregate win over Barca in the semi-final stage of the Champions League.

Pastor Nabbed With 1.978kgOf Heroin At Enugu Airport

A Lagos pastor has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA), Enugu over drug trafficking.

The suspect, Daniel Lanre Akintola, 43, was caught with 1.978kg of heroin concealed in the false bottom of his luggage.

NDLEA commander at the Enugu Airport, Nsikak-Abasi Udoh, disclosed that the 43-year-old pastor attempted to abandon his luggage at the arrival hall for fear of arrest.

“Mr. Daniel Lanre Akintola unlawfully possessed 1.978kg of heroin, while returning from Entebbe, a major town in Central Uganda.

“He wanted to abandon the luggage, but we detected his intention. The drug was carefully concealed in a false bottom of his luggage.

“The second suspect is a businessman who had parcels of ephedrine weighing 51.5kg, which he wanted to smuggle to Ma-puto, Mozambique.

“They are being investigated.”

Akintola did not deny ownership of the bag containing heroin, but said he was returning from a pastor’s conference.

“I am a pastor with one of the pentecostal churches, at Ipaja, Lagos. I attended a minister’s conference in Uganda.

“This bag, where heroin was found, is my bag but I am a pastor and not a drug trafficker.”

Buhari Blames Slow Growth Of Oil&Gas Sector On Politicians

President-elect Muhammadu Buhari has blamed politicians for the slow rate of development in the nation’s oil and gas sector.

He said this when he received a delegation from Total Oil Exploration and Production Group who were on a congratulatory visit.

Buhari said the slow progress recorded in the development of the country’s gas production and distribution infrastructure was due to sabotage by politicians and inefficiency by the officials.

The Chief Executive Officer of Total Group, Mr. Patrick Pouyanne, however, assured that his company was doing its best to assuage the pains of Nigerians with the ongoing fuel scarcity. It has therefore directed its downstream subsidiary to ensure all-round supply of petroleum product to its 500 distribution outlets throughout the country.

“We have discussed and I think some solutions are being implemented. Our downstream subsidiary, Total Nigeria Plc, is doing its best in order to supply its 500 outstations throughout the country with fuel to help check the scarcity.

“Nigeria is an important nation in our business outlook. It presently accounts for over 10 per cent of Total Group’s investment worldwide. We are not just involved in the Upstream and natural gas production, but in the downstream operations.

“We are deeply concerned on the current challenges being witnessed in Nigeria and global oil market,” he said.

Gen Buhari orders security personnel attached to him to always obey traffic order

President elect, Gen. Buhari has reportedly ordered aides and security personnel attached to him to always obey traffic regulations during all his movements in any part of the country. In a statement released and signed by his media team in Abuja yesterday May 6th, Buhari said leadership without example will cause ordinary citizens to copy the lawlessness of their leaders. Above is a picture of his convoy waiting at a traffic light.

"Without leadership by example, the ordinary citizens would become copycats of the lawlessness of their leaders”He went further by stating that “arrogance of power, lawlessness and disregard for the rights and convenience of fellow citizens would have no place in his government”.

He said in a democracy, leaders should not inconvenience their citizens or cause them to experience unbearable ordeals for their own comfort.

The President-elect advised his military and police security personnel to be in tune with his philosophy of “bringing the rule of law in the conduct of leaders during their movements on public roads.”
