Nigerian becomes first black woman to graduate with a first class degree from the University of Reading UK

Anita Osariemen Omonuwa from Edo-state has achieved a feat that has never been attained in the 122 years of existence of UK institution, University of Reading. She graduated with a First Class degree in Law from the university which is rated among the top 1% in the world.

Explosion Hits Akure

A suspected gas explosion has hit, Arakale, an area in Akure. According to eyewitnesses, the explosion started from a gas station and spread rapidly towards residential buildings at the moment. Some people are said to have lost their lives immediately the explosion occurred, while residents are running out of their houses for fear of been caught in the fire. See more pix after the cut..

The biggest and most prestigious music award in Nigeria, ” The Headies Awards 2014 ”, was held yesterday at the prestigious Eko Hotels &Sites in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The awards ceremony was organizer to celebrate the deserving musicians under 1 year review calendar.

Davido, Olamide and Patoranking emerged the biggest winners of the night. Davido won in the Song of the Year and Artiste of the Year category, while Patoranking was announced as Next Rated – for which he received a brand new Hyundai car.

Mavins picked up two awards, while artistes like Yemi Alade, Runtown and a few others missed out.

Nigerian Oil Workers to Embark on Indefinite Strike from Monday December 15th

Oil workers in Nigeria are set to embark on an indefinite strike from Monday, December 15th, as they are unhappy about some unresolved issues they have with the Federal Government.

Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association (PENGASSAN) and their counterparts, the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), are adamant about conducting the strike, Premium Times reports.
